Also, | development of the original 'murder motel' happened here | in Greensboro, 72 lines in c-net to write a game was not | enough, so another sysop (Steven White, Magic Foam BBS) a | BBS user (Sean Wagle) and I came up with the concept of | loading modules. *somewhere* around here I still have the | dev floppies and print-outs. will keep you bookmarked, | and if they turn up, will contribute. "The Zoo", as it | was always called despite the other names, was always a | testing ground for new ideas in BBS software, hence so | many different packages; Skyline for the Amiga was the | most interesting because it was almost a preview of what | web graphics are if one accessed it with an Amiga term | prg called 'Skyterm'. a number of games and other | oddities were developed on it by a user named Shane | Killian. as with murder motel, his concepts still float | around in various incarnations on several platforms. one | of his games invited the computer to play at midnight and | it ended up scaring the #$#! out of us.. there was | absolutely no semblence of A.I. code in the game, but | somehow the computer would take over the whole BBS after | about a week of play everytime it was re-started.. | spooked all of us!

14 years of online insanity and | "meeting" so many wonderful people, I agree with you that | the BBS is a part of computer history that should not be | forgotten. (What is really odd is that I've been on the | internet for the same number of years and have yet to | find the "warmth" that the local dial-ins always offered. |

Thank you for creating this site, it sure brought | back a lot of great memories!" - Lynne --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-421-9401 | Dave's World BBS, Miller Time BBS | ANDERSON, NC (1995-1998) SYSOP | David Somers --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-427-3392 | The Electric Gypsy | MADISON, NC (1995-1999) SYSOP | Chris Crowder --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-434-0877 | AmigaLand BBS | High Point, NC SYSOP | Perry Woods --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-449-7857 | PC Garden BBS | GIBSONVILLE, NC (1994-1999) SYSOP | Don Dodson SOFTWARE | TriBBS --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-472-2114 | Basic Connection, SPO\!BBS | Thomasville, NC (1993-1996) SYSOP | Paul Sullivan SOFTWARE | propietary COMMENTS | "Custom developed BBS software by the sysop (Paul | Sullivan)." - Paul Sullivan --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-475-5662 | The Mach ][ BBS | THOMASVILLE, NC (1994-1999) SYSOP | Michael Edinger SOFTWARE | RemoteAccess, TriBBS --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-503-9385 | Tom's Classic Computers BBS | Roxboro, NC (1995-1999) SYSOP | Tom Copper SOFTWARE | TriBBS, TriBBS 5.0 --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-570-2689 | Alamance Net, The Spirit of '76, The Spirit of 76 | BURLINGTON, NC (1994-1998) SYSOP | Jeff Rudd --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-584-4260 | No Name BBS | BURLINGTON, NC (1998) SYSOP | George Bittman --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-595-3864 | Five Star BBS | WALKERTOWN, NC (-2001) SYSOP | Dayne Doty SOFTWARE | TriBBS --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-595-8073 | PC MOTORSPORTS, PC-Motorsports, PC-MOTORSPORTS / MASONIC | WALKERTOWN, NC (-2001) SYSOP | Ronald Conrad SOFTWARE | Wildcat --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-626-7985 | The Steiner Line BBS | ASHEBORO, NC (1983-1999) SYSOP | Barry Laws --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-643-9030 | The Tarheel Connection | SUMMERFIELD, NC (1994-1998) SYSOP | Mickey Lightsey --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-721-0575 | NOVAT | WINSTON-SALEM, NC (1994-1998) SYSOP | David Pritchard --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-723-6685 | Unlimited Data BBS | WINSTON-SALEM, NC (1998-1999) SOFTWARE | TriBBS --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-725-2441 | Ghost Town BBS, Winston-Salem NET | WINSTON-SALEM, NC (-2001) SYSOP | Robert Everhart SOFTWARE | TriBBS --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-727-0302 | ICEHOUSE | WINSTON-SALEM, NC (1983-1998) SYSOP | David Silvers --------------+----------------------------------------------------------- 336-744-1333 | Empire!
